Travel Expert Recommendations
Why is Peru 7 Days a good option for a first trip?
Peru 7 Days allows you to experience very different destinations within a single itinerary, combining the desert landscapes of Huacachina with Cusco, Machu Picchu, and Rainbow Mountain.
What makes a Peru 7-Day trip special?
What makes Peru 7 Days special is the variety of experiences you can enjoy in just one week: dunes and an oasis in Huacachina, history and architecture in Cusco, the Inca legacy of Machu Picchu, and high-altitude landscapes at Rainbow Mountain.
What should I consider before choosing Peru 7 Days?
Peru 7 Days is not designed for travelers looking for a slow-paced vacation, as it combines several destinations and transfers within one week. Some days require early starts, and visiting high-altitude destinations such as Rainbow Mountain adds a greater level of physical demand to the itinerary.

Travel Expert Recommendations
What type of clothing should I wear for the Huacachina Full-Day Tour?
Wear lightweight and comfortable clothing suitable for the desert heat. White, black, and red clothing creates a striking contrast against the dunes in photographs.
Bring a jacket for the return journey to Lima, as temperatures become cooler at night.
Will I be able to see the sunset on the Huacachina Full-Day Tour?
No. Due to the return schedule to Lima, this one-day Huacachina tour does not coincide with sunset in the dunes.
If watching the sunset from the dunes is important to you, we recommend choosing one of our 2-day tours with an overnight stay in Ica.
Day 3: Flight from Lima to Cusco and Airport Pickup

We recommend resting and taking the remainder of the day to acclimatize to the altitude, so you can better enjoy the activities planned for the following days.
We have left this day free so you can explore some attractions in Cusco at your own pace, such as San Pedro Market, the Inka Museum, and photogenic streets and landmarks such as Siete Borreguitos and the Twelve-Angled Stone.

What is the best circuit at Machu Picchu?
The Classic Circuit is a popular option because it allows you to take the iconic panoramic photo and explore important areas of the Inca citadel.
How many circuits are there to enter Machu Picchu?
There are currently 3 official circuits, with Circuits 2 and 3 being the two options we particularly recommend depending on the type of experience you are looking for.
Can I transfer my Machu Picchu ticket to another person?
No. Each ticket is linked to the traveler's passport and is non-transferable. At the entrance checkpoint, your ticket and identification document are verified, so another person cannot use your admission ticket.

Travel Expert Recommendations
Can I rent a horse for the Humantay Lake tour if I don't want to hike?
Absolutely. Make sure to bring cash in Peruvian soles. The approximate cost is PEN 100 for the uphill journey.
What clothing and footwear should I wear to visit Humantay Lake?
Wear warm clothing and comfortable trekking shoes with good grip. Temperatures can be very cold, especially in June and July, so dressing in layers is highly recommended.
Can I rent a horse for the descent from Humantay Lake?
Yes, but I do not recommend it. The descent is steep, and horses usually cover only about 1 km of the route, so you will still need to walk the remaining section.

Absolutely. Just make sure to bring cash in Peruvian Soles (PEN). The cost is approximately PEN 60 for a one way ride or PEN 100 for a round trip.

Dress very warmly, especially if you're visiting during June or July, when temperatures are at their coldest. We highly recommend wearing layers so you can easily adjust to changing weather conditions throughout the day.

No. Due to the extreme altitude and the physical demands of the tour, we do not recommend this excursion for pregnant travelers. What places are visited during the Peru 7-Day Tour?
The Peru 7-Day Tour combines Huacachina, Cusco, Machu Picchu, and Rainbow Mountain in an itinerary that takes you through desert landscapes, Andean cities, Inca archaeological sites, and high-altitude mountain scenery. The route connects Peru’s coast with the Andes and requires careful coordination of travel between Lima, Ica, and Cusco to make the most of each day.
💡 Get In Peru Expert Tip: On itineraries combining the coast and the Andes, we first confirm services with limited availability or fixed schedules, especially Machu Picchu, before finalizing the rest of the journey.
📍 Did you know? In a single week, you can travel from nearly sea level on Peru’s coast to areas above 5,000 meters in the Andes.
Is a Peru 7 days Tour enough to see the main attractions?
Yes, 7 days in Peru is enough to experience a selection of the country’s main attractions, as long as the itinerary is well organized and you understand that it will be an active trip. Seven days allow you to combine Huacachina, Cusco, Machu Picchu, and Rainbow Mountain, although the pace will not be as relaxed as a trip of ten days or more.
💡 Get In Peru Expert Tip: Avoid adding extra excursions simply because you see a few free hours in the itinerary. On short trips, these time buffers are useful for resting and accommodating minor operational changes.
📍 Did you know? Peru’s long travel distances and significant changes in altitude mean that the order of your visits can be just as important as the number of days available.
How many days do I need to visit Lima, Huacachina, Cusco, and Machu Picchu?
A 7 days Peru itinerary allows you to combine Lima, Huacachina, Cusco, and Machu Picchu when transfers and excursions are arranged in an efficient sequence. It is a suitable length for travelers who have one week and want to experience both Peru’s coast and the Andes, although some days will involve early starts and travel between destinations.
💡 Get In Peru Expert Tip: When traveling from Lima to Cusco, avoid scheduling a physically demanding excursion immediately after your flight. The change in altitude affects every traveler differently.
📍 Did you know? Lima is located practically at sea level, while the city of Cusco sits at approximately 3,400 meters above sea level.
What is the best time of year to take the Peru 7 days Tour?
The Peru 7 days Tour can be enjoyed year-round, but conditions vary depending on the region. In the Andes, April through September are generally the drier months, while rainfall becomes more frequent from October through March. Huacachina has much drier desert conditions, so you can experience considerably different climates during the same trip.
💡 Get In Peru Expert Tip: Even during the dry season, bring a lightweight waterproof layer. Weather around Cusco and on mountain excursions can change quickly throughout the day.
📍 Did you know? Peru’s coast and the Andes have different climate patterns, so there is no single weather condition that represents the entire journey.
How should I prepare for the altitude during a Peru 7 days trip?
For a 7 days Peru trip, it is best to adapt to the altitude gradually, especially before visiting Rainbow Mountain. When you arrive in Cusco, stay hydrated, eat light meals, get enough rest, and avoid intense physical activity during the first few hours. Everyone responds differently to high altitude, regardless of their physical fitness.
💡 Get In Peru Expert Tip: Do not schedule Rainbow Mountain as your first excursion immediately after arriving from Lima. Whenever the itinerary allows, start with less physically demanding activities to give your body more time to adjust.
📍 Did you know? Rainbow Mountain is located considerably higher than Cusco, and the excursion reaches approximately 5,000 meters above sea level.
What clothes should I pack for a Peru 7 days Tour?
For a Peru 7 days Tour, it is best to pack clothing in layers, comfortable shoes with good grip, a warm jacket, a windbreaker or waterproof layer, a hat, sunglasses, and sun protection. The itinerary combines the warmer, drier climate of Huacachina with cold mornings and changing weather conditions in Cusco and the high-altitude mountains.
💡 Get In Peru Expert Tip: Don’t pack based only on Cusco’s temperatures. For Rainbow Mountain, you will need warm clothing from very early in the morning, but during the hike you may end up removing several layers as your body warms up.
📍 Did you know? In the Andes, solar radiation can be intense even when temperatures are low, partly because of the high altitude.
Is a Peru 7 days Tour recommended for a first trip to the country?
Yes, a Peru 7 days Tour can be a great introduction for a first trip to the country because it combines destinations with very different characteristics. Huacachina showcases the desert landscapes of Peru’s coast, while Cusco, Machu Picchu, and Rainbow Mountain offer an introduction to Inca history and Andean geography. However, the itinerary is designed to make the most of a full and active week.
💡 Get In Peru Expert Tip: If this is your first visit, leave enough time between important connections. A compact itinerary works best when it does not rely on overly tight connections between ground transportation, flights, and excursions.
📍 Did you know? Traveling from the coast to Cusco means going in just a few hours from a region near sea level to a city located at approximately 3,400 meters above sea level.
How physically demanding is the Peru 7 days itinerary?
The Peru 7- days itinerary has a moderate level of physical demand, with Rainbow Mountain being considerably more challenging due to the hike and high altitude. Machu Picchu involves walking on stairs and uneven terrain, while other parts of the itinerary mainly consist of sightseeing and transfers. The early departure times required for some excursions should also be taken into consideration.
💡 Get In Peru Expert Tip: Carry only what you need during the excursions. An unnecessarily heavy backpack feels much heavier when hiking above 4,000 meters.
📍 Did you know? At high altitude, a relatively short hike can feel more demanding than a much longer walk completed at lower elevations.
How far in advance should I book the Peru 7 days Tour?
It is recommended to book the Peru 7 days Tour several months in advance if you have specific travel dates, as the itinerary depends on services with limited availability, especially Machu Picchu entrance tickets and certain transportation schedules. Booking early provides more options for maintaining a well-organized sequence between Lima, Huacachina, Cusco, and the scheduled excursions.
💡 Get In Peru Expert Tip: Confirm Machu Picchu availability before purchasing non-refundable services separately. On a seven-day itinerary, changing just one date may require reorganizing several days of the trip.
📍 Did you know? Machu Picchu uses specific visitor circuits and entrance times, so not all tickets provide exactly the same route through the archaeological site.
What should I consider before booking a Peru 7 days Tour?
Before booking a Peru 7 days Tour, you should review the pace of the itinerary, transfer schedules, altitude acclimatization, and which services are included each day. It is especially important to check how Huacachina, Cusco, Machu Picchu, and Rainbow Mountain are connected, as a shorter itinerary leaves less flexibility to reorganize services in case of changes or delays.
💡 Get In Peru Expert Tip: Don’t evaluate an itinerary only by the number of places it includes. Check what time each day ends and the next one begins; two attractive excursions can become impractical if they are poorly connected.
📍 Did you know? On a multi-destination trip, transfer times are an important part of the itinerary and can determine how much time you actually have to enjoy each destination.
