Airport Pickup at Your Flight’s Arrival Time
To ensure your safety and comfort from the moment you arrive, we will send a taxi to pick you up and connect you with our main transportation service.
12:30 PM - Afternoon Cusco City Tour
We recommend having lunch near the Plaza de Armas, as the main meeting point will be at the fountain in the square.
If you prefer, we can also pick you up directly from your hotel reception, with prior coordination with our team.
1:00 PM - Coricancha, Temple of the Sun
Our guide will bring history to life as you explore what was once the most important temple during the Inca Empire.
This site was used to store gold and silver treasures from other kingdoms conquered by the Incas.
2:00 PM - Departure to Saqsayhuaman
We board our private transportation and, after a short 30 minute drive to the upper part of the city, we will head to one of the most important megalithic constructions of Andean culture.
2:30 PM - Saqsayhuaman, Temple of Lightning
Saqsayhuaman is the largest archaeological complex we will visit. Here, you will see astonishing walls built with stones weighing more than 100 tons, fitted together with millimeter precision that challenges modern engineering and amazes travelers from around the world.
3:30 PM - Tambomachay, Temple of Water
We continue by private transportation to this ceremonial center, considered by the Incas a place dedicated to the worship of water and fertility.
You will see its channels, crystal-clear water fountains that continue to flow today, and the profound symbolism of Andean duality.
4:15 PM - Puca Pucara, Military Fortress
Just a few steps from Tambomachay stands this ancient military structure. During its time of glory, it served as a checkpoint for those entering the imperial capital.
From this strategic location, you will enjoy one of the most spectacular panoramic views of the mountains surrounding Cusco.
4:45 PM - Qenqo, Mummification Center
We continue in our transportation until we reach Qenqo, although much of the site was destroyed during the campaign to eradicate indigenous religious practices.
The atmosphere here still evokes the spirits of mummified Inca emperors and nobles. It is believed that the most important bodies were displayed outside, facing the sun.
5:15 PM - Eucalyptus Forest
Right next to the archaeological sites is this incredible eucalyptus forest.
It is the perfect spot for a creative photo session, to connect with nature, and to capture unique images for your social media while taking advantage of the evening light.
6:00 PM - End of the Tour
We finish the tour one block from the Plaza de Armas. You will then be free to enjoy Cusco’s local cuisine, pisco cocktails, and vibrant nightlife.

Scheduling Rainbow Mountain and Humantay Lake for the final days means you’ll already have spent several days traveling in the Andes before taking on these hikes.
Why Choose a 6 Day, 5 Night Cusco Tour with the Sunset Train?
The Sunset Train turns the journey to Machu Picchu Pueblo into part of the experience. After exploring the Sacred Valley, you’ll continue by train as the Andean scenery gradually changes during the final hours of the day.
This means your second day doesn’t end in the Sacred Valley—it continues with a scenic train journey that serves as the perfect introduction to your visit to Machu Picchu.
💡 Get In Peru Tip: Keep your camera or phone handy during the journey and, while there’s still natural light, take advantage of the panoramic windows to watch the landscape change along the way.
🌄 Did You Know?
The train journey connects the mountainous surroundings of Ollantaytambo with the greener landscapes surrounding Machu Picchu Pueblo.
Is Machu Picchu Visited on a Private Tour During This 6-Day Package?
Yes. The third day of the 6 Day, 5 Night Cusco Tour is dedicated to exploring Machu Picchu on a private tour, allowing you to enjoy personalized attention from your guide rather than following the pace of a large group.
This is especially useful for travelers who want to gain a deeper understanding of the site’s history and enjoy a more personalized experience.
💡 Get In Peru Tip: Take advantage of the private service to ask your guide about the archaeological sectors you encounter along your assigned circuit.
🏛️ Did You Know?
Machu Picchu currently has 3 circuits comprising 10 different routes, so your exact itinerary depends on the ticket purchased and availability.
Does the 6 Day, 5 Night Cusco Tour Allow Time to Acclimatize Before Visiting Rainbow Mountain?
Yes. One advantage of this itinerary is that Rainbow Mountain is scheduled for Day 4, after you’ve spent the first three days exploring Cusco, the Sacred Valley, and Machu Picchu.
This sequence gives you more time in the Andes before the hike compared with an itinerary that schedules a high-altitude trek immediately after arriving in Cusco.
💡 Get In Peru Tip: Even if you have trekking experience, use the first few days to stay hydrated, get plenty of rest, and avoid unnecessary physical exertion before the hikes.
🏔️ Did You Know?
Acclimatization and physical fitness are not the same thing: even physically fit travelers may need time to adjust to higher altitudes.
How Demanding Is the 6 Day, 5 Night Cusco Tour?
The trip combines less physically demanding cultural activities with two more challenging excursions: Rainbow Mountain and Humantay Lake, scheduled for Days 4 and 5, respectively.
For this reason, the package is better suited to travelers who are comfortable hiking at high altitude than to those looking exclusively for cultural visits and sightseeing without physical exertion.
💡 Get In Peru Tip: Bring hiking shoes, layered clothing, sun protection, and water for your Rainbow Mountain and Humantay Lake excursions.
🥾 Did You Know?
One of the main differences compared with a classic Cusco package is that you won’t just visit archaeological sites—you’ll also enjoy two trekking experiences in the Andes.
Is It Better to Visit Rainbow Mountain or Humantay Lake First?
On this 6-Day, 5-Night Cusco Tour, you’ll visit Rainbow Mountain first on Day 4, followed by Humantay Lake on Day 5, placing both mountain experiences after your visit to Machu Picchu.
There is no universally better order for every traveler, but this sequence allows you to dedicate the first few days of the itinerary to cultural and archaeological experiences.
💡 Get In Peru Tip: After returning from Rainbow Mountain, get plenty of rest and prepare your gear that same evening for the next day’s excursion to Humantay Lake.

Rainbow Mountain and Humantay Lake offer completely different landscapes, so visiting both adds greater variety to your trip than choosing just one.
