VISIT: Arequipa City Tour
We begin our City Tour in Arequipa at 9:00 a.m., picking you up from your hotel in the historic center.
Our first stop will be the Carmen Alto Viewpoint, where you’ll enjoy a stunning panoramic view of the Chilina Valley and the three majestic volcanoes surrounding the White City: Misti (5,800 m), Chachani (6,000 m), and Pichu Pichu (5,300 m) — along with the traditional agricultural terraces of the Arequipa countryside.
Next, we’ll visit the traditional district of Yanahuara, famous for its white sillar stone arches, colonial church, and charming main square offering postcard-perfect views of Arequipa.
We’ll then head to the Historic Center of Arequipa, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, to explore the Plaza de Armas, surrounded by granite arcades and featuring a central fountain topped by the “Tuturutu.” You’ll also admire the Arequipa Cathedral, a magnificent neoclassical building stretching along the entire side of the square.
Our tour continues with a visit to the Church and Cloisters of the Society of Jesus (1573), a masterpiece of Arequipa’s baroque architecture. Highlights include the polychrome chapel of St. Ignatius of Loyola and the beautifully carved sillar cloisters.
Next, we’ll visit the Tristán del Pozo House, one of the finest examples of the mestizo-baroque architectural style in Arequipa, followed by the San Francisco Square and Church, another significant historical complex in the city.
Finally, we’ll explore the Santa Catalina Monastery (1580) — a true “city within a city,” featuring narrow streets, plazas, and cloisters that preserve centuries of history and religious tradition.
Around 1:00 p.m., we’ll conclude our tour and drop you off at your hotel in Arequipa.
