VISIT: Copacabana 3 Days

We begin our adventure from La Paz at 9:00 a.m., with pickup directly from your hotel. Along the route to Copacabana, we’ll enjoy several panoramic stops for photos and a light morning snack. Throughout the drive, you’ll be treated to breathtaking views of the Cordillera Real, the snow-capped mountain range of the Bolivian Altiplano, as well as picturesque villages that line the shores of Lake Titicaca, the largest lake in South America.

Crossing the Tiquina Strait

At 11:30 a.m., we’ll cross the Tiquina Strait on a small boat for about 10 minutes, offering a unique perspective of the lake and its vast blue waters.

Arrival in Copacabana

Around 1:00 p.m., we’ll arrive in Copacabana, where you’ll enjoy a traditional lunch, featuring local specialties such as pejerrey (kingfish) from Lake Titicaca. Afterward, we’ll explore the local market, famous for its dairy products and the irresistible “Pasank’alla” — roasted corn glazed with natural caramel.
Warning: 99% of our travelers get addicted to this sweet treat!

Visit to the Basilica of Our Lady of Copacabana

Next, we’ll visit the Basilica of Our Lady of Copacabana, a sacred site revered by both Indigenous and Catholic communities. The temple’s stunning colonial architecture and fascinating history — intertwined with Inca traditions — make it one of Bolivia’s most important religious landmarks.

Hike to El Calvario

At 4:45 p.m., we’ll begin a 40-minute uphill hike to the Calvario of Copacabana, a spiritual and scenic viewpoint offering the best sunset in Copacabana. The climb requires some effort, but the sweeping views of the town and the lake make every step worthwhile.

Evening

After descending, we’ll return to the lodge for a light dinner and relaxation.

ENDS: Around 7:00 p.m., back at your accommodation.

VISIT: Copacabana 3 Days

We’ll start the day at 8:30 a.m. You’ll have the chance to leave your luggage at the hotel and pick it up upon your return to Copacabana. Then, we’ll head to the shore of Lake Titicaca, where a private boat will be waiting to begin our adventure. The boat ride lasts approximately 3 hours, so make sure to bring sunscreen and simply relax as you enjoy the breathtaking scenery.

Isla de la Luna (Moon Island)

Our first stop is the mystical Moon Island, a sacred site in Inca mythology. Legend says that Viracocha, the creator god, commanded the moon to rise from this very spot. On the eastern shore, you’ll explore ancient Inca ruins — the remains of a temple once used by priestesses devoted to the Sun God — before we continue our journey.

Isla del Sol (Sun Island)

We’ll return to the boat and continue toward the Isla del Sol, our main destination. According to legend, this is where Manco Cápac, the first Inca, was born from the sacred rock Titi Qala. The island is said to be the birthplace of the Sun itself, marking the end of darkness and the beginning of light in Andean cosmology.

Lunch in Yumani

At 12:30 p.m., we’ll arrive near the village of Yumani, located on the southern part of the island. Here, we’ll enjoy a traditional Aymara buffet lunch known as “Apthapi” — a delicious communal meal featuring native potatoes, vegetables, meats, cheese, and eggs from the Altiplano.

Hike Across the Island

After lunch, we’ll begin a 2-hour uphill hike to the top of the island. Along the way, we’ll visit iconic sites such as the Yumani terraces, the Fountain of Eternal Youth, and small Andean herbal shops known as “pharmacies of the Andes.” As we ascend, you’ll be rewarded with 360° panoramic views of Lake Titicaca and the surrounding snow-capped mountains. Every step is worth it — guaranteed.

Evening Rest

Upon reaching the summit, we’ll check into a local hotel to rest and take in the stunning views. Your guide will coordinate dinner at 7:30 p.m., served at the hotel — the perfect ending to a day full of culture, legends, and adventure.

ENDS: Around 7:30 p.m., with return to your accommodation.

VISIT: Copacabana 3 Days

After a delicious breakfast at the lodge, we’ll begin the day at 8:00 a.m. with a visit to a viewpoint and an apacheta, a sacred Aymara site used for traditional rituals and offerings. This will be a perfect moment to enjoy the island’s serenity and connect with its spiritual atmosphere.

Hike to the Pilko Kaina Ruins

Next, we’ll take a one-hour hike to the Inca ruins of Pilko Kaina, home to a two-level Inca palace believed to have been built by Emperor Túpac Yupanqui. During the visit, your local guide will share the mystical and cultural significance of the site, offering deeper insight into the legends, history, and traditions that shaped the region.

Return to the Floating Islands

Afterward, we’ll board our boat back toward the Floating Islands, a fascinating group of more than 10 man-made islands built by the Aymara people. Each island has its own unique structure and design — a remarkable example of human ingenuity and harmony with nature. Here, we’ll enjoy a traditional lunch featuring freshly caught trout from Lake Titicaca. (If you have dietary preferences, lunch can be served in Copacabana instead.)

Return to Copacabana

After lunch, we’ll return to Copacabana, where you’ll have time to collect your belongings and get ready for the journey back.

Travel Back to La Paz

Finally, we’ll take our transport back to La Paz, arriving around 6:00 p.m., marking the end of this unforgettable three-day adventure.
