VISIT: Colca Canyon 2 Days
We begin our journey to the Colca Canyon at 7:30 a.m., picking you up from your hotel in downtown Arequipa in a comfortable van. Our trip will take approximately 4 hours to reach the town of Chivay, with several scenic stops along the way.
At Pampa Cañahuas, we’ll observe wild vicuñas grazing freely in their natural habitat. Then, we’ll continue to Patahuasi, where we’ll enjoy a traditional coca tea, an essential drink to help with the altitude.
Next, we’ll visit the Toccra Wetlands, home to numerous alpacas and migratory birds, before reaching the Volcanoes Viewpoint—the highest point of the route at 4,800 meters above sea level—offering stunning panoramic views of the western Andes range. From there, it’s only about 40 minutes to reach Chivay.
Around 12:30 p.m., we’ll arrive in Chivay to enjoy a delicious lunch at a local restaurant.
After lunch, we’ll settle into our hotels. In the afternoon, you’ll have the option to visit the Chivay Hot Springs, where the thermal pools range from 35°C to 38°C, perfect for relaxation.
In the evening, we’ll enjoy a traditional dinner accompanied by a folk show, featuring colorful local dances and Andean music.
The first day of the tour ends with an overnight stay in Chivay.

VISIT: Colca Canyon 2 Days
We start the day early with breakfast around 6:00 a.m., then head toward the Cruz del Cóndor viewpoint, where we’ll have the chance to witness the majestic flight of the Andean condor as it soars gracefully above us, rising from the depths of the canyon.
Afterward, we’ll continue visiting several viewpoints along the canyon to explore and admire the sheer magnitude of this natural wonder — the second deepest canyon in the world.
On our way back to Chivay, we’ll stop at the charming town of Yanque, where we’ll visit its beautiful colonial church and stroll through its traditional stone-paved streets, discovering more of the local culture.
To capture breathtaking views of the Colca Valley, we’ll drive to the Choquetico and Artahuilque viewpoints, where you can observe pre-Inca tombs and models of ancient agricultural terraces carved into the rock. Make sure you have plenty of space on your memory card — you’ll want to take photos of every moment.
After enjoying lunch at a local restaurant, we’ll begin our return journey to Arequipa, arriving at approximately 5:30 p.m., where you’ll be dropped off at your hotel or hostel.
