VISIT: Quelccaya Glacier Full Day
We begin our adventure to the Quelccaya Glacier bright and early at 3:00 a.m., picking you up from one of the following meeting points in Cusco: Plazoleta Regocijo, Plaza Túpac Amaru, or Universidad Continental. From there, we’ll set off in our private transport toward the remote Andean town of Phinaya, on a scenic 5-hour drive across the breathtaking landscapes of the Andean highlands.
HIKE TO QUELCCAYA GLACIER
Upon arrival in Phinaya, we’ll enjoy a traditional Andean breakfast to fuel up for the day. We’ll then continue for about one more hour by van until we reach the base of the Quelccaya Glacier, known as the largest tropical glacier in the world.
From here, we’ll begin a short 30-minute hike, during which you’ll see crystal-clear lagoons, small streams, wild vicuñas, and the towering peaks of the Vilcanota mountain range. Once we reach the glacier, you’ll have free time to take photos and admire this awe-inspiring natural wonder.
LUNCH & VISIT TO SIBINACOCHA LAKE
After visiting the glacier, we’ll return to Phinaya for a typical local lunch. Then, on our way back to Cusco, we’ll make a special stop at the stunning Sibinacocha Lagoon — one of the largest and most beautiful lakes on the Andean plateau — the perfect way to end this unforgettable journey.
RETURN TO CUSCO
The tour ends upon our arrival back in Cusco at approximately 9:00 p.m., dropping you off at a central location for your convenience.
