VISIT: Yacumama Lake sunset
We begin the activity at the Plaza de Armas of Puerto Maldonado at 3:00 PM, where our guide and driver will be waiting for you to check in.
At 3:20 PM, we start the adventure, first traveling by van toward the entrance of Yacumama Lake.
Around 4:00 PM, we arrive at the entrance of this natural reserve, where we will receive a brief introductory talk about the area.
After the talk, we begin the canoe excursion, paddling alongside our expert guide as we navigate through Yacumama Lake and its palm trees.
We will have the opportunity to observe green-headed parrots nesting in dead palm trees, as well as spot black caimans fishing with absolute stealth.
A must-do part of this activity is recreational piranha fishing. Our guide will slowly paddle the group to a suitable spot for this experience.
From here, we will also enjoy one of the most spectacular and beautiful sunsets in the Tambopata rainforest.
Around 6:15 PM, we paddle back to the small lake dock, leave the fishing rods in storage, and begin the return trip by van to the Plaza de Armas.
The tour ends at approximately 6:45 PM at the Plaza de Armas of Puerto Maldonado.
