Airport Pickup at Your Flight’s Arrival Time

To ensure your safety and comfort from the moment you arrive, we will send a taxi to pick you up and connect you with our main transportation service.

12:30 PM - Afternoon Cusco City Tour

We recommend having lunch near the Plaza de Armas, as the main meeting point will be at the fountain in the square.

If you prefer, we can also pick you up directly from your hotel reception, with prior coordination with our team.

1:00 PM - Coricancha, Temple of the Sun

Our guide will bring history to life as you explore what was once the most important temple during the Inca Empire.

This site was used to store gold and silver treasures from other kingdoms conquered by the Incas.

2:00 PM - Departure to Saqsayhuaman

We board our private transportation and, after a short 30 minute drive to the upper part of the city, we will head to one of the most important megalithic constructions of Andean culture.

2:30 PM - Saqsayhuaman, Temple of Lightning

Saqsayhuaman is the largest archaeological complex we will visit. Here, you will see astonishing walls built with stones weighing more than 100 tons, fitted together with millimeter precision that challenges modern engineering and amazes travelers from around the world.

3:30 PM - Tambomachay, Temple of Water

We continue by private transportation to this ceremonial center, considered by the Incas a place dedicated to the worship of water and fertility.

You will see its channels, crystal-clear water fountains that continue to flow today, and the profound symbolism of Andean duality.

4:15 PM - Puca Pucara, Military Fortress

Just a few steps from Tambomachay stands this ancient military structure. During its time of glory, it served as a checkpoint for those entering the imperial capital.

From this strategic location, you will enjoy one of the most spectacular panoramic views of the mountains surrounding Cusco.

4:45 PM - Qenqo, Mummification Center

We continue in our transportation until we reach Qenqo, although much of the site was destroyed during the campaign to eradicate indigenous religious practices.

The atmosphere here still evokes the spirits of mummified Inca emperors and nobles. It is believed that the most important bodies were displayed outside, facing the sun.

5:15 PM - Eucalyptus Forest

Right next to the archaeological sites is this incredible eucalyptus forest.

It is the perfect spot for a creative photo session, to connect with nature, and to capture unique images for your social media while taking advantage of the evening light.

6:00 PM - End of the Tour

We finish the tour one block from the Plaza de Armas. You will then be free to enjoy Cusco’s local cuisine, pisco cocktails, and vibrant nightlife.

Travel Expert Recommendations

What Type of Clothing Should I Wear for the Cusco City Tour?

I recommend wearing warm clothing. Andean weather changes quickly, and you can go from bright sunshine to cold winds while visiting the ruins.

Bring a windbreaker, shoes with good grip, sunglasses, sunscreen, and a small backpack.

Which Months Are Rainy in Cusco?

The rainy season runs from October to March, with January and February being the rainiest months.

Do You Stop for Lunch?

No. I recommend scheduling your flight to arrive early in the morning so you have time to rest at your hotel and eat before the tour begins.

Travel Expert Recommendations

¿CWhat Is the Best Circuit at Machu Picchu?

The Classic Circuit, because it allows you to take the iconic panoramic photo and walk through the original Inca citadel.

How Many Circuits Are There to Enter Machu Picchu?

There are currently 3 official circuits, with Circuits 3 and 2 being the two we highly recommend.

If I Have a Specific Circuit, Can I Switch to Another One Once Inside?

No. The trails are one way, monitored, and each circuit takes you through completely different areas.

Can I Transfer My Ticket to Someone Else?

No. Each ticket is linked to your passport. At the entrance checkpoint, both documents are verified, and tickets are 100% non transferable.

7:00 a.m. – Pickup from your hotel in Cusco

We will begin with pickup from your hotel in Cusco in private transportation. We will then travel along the southern section of the Interoceanic Highway on a journey of approximately 3 hours and 30 minutes.

10:30 a.m. – Box Lunch Breakfast

Upon arrival, you will enjoy a Box Lunch-style breakfast overlooking one of the most beautiful and least-visited lagoons in Cusco.

This is a good opportunity to rest, acclimatize to the altitude, and enjoy the peaceful scenery before beginning the hike. It is also an excellent time to take your first panoramic photographs of the area.

12:00 p.m. – Hike around Singrenacocha Lagoon

We will begin a moderately difficult hike along the shores of the lagoon. During the walk, you will see its crystal-clear turquoise waters, snow-capped mountains, high-Andean wetlands, and native wildlife such as alpacas, llamas, and Andean birds.

Because this destination is still relatively unknown, you can enjoy a quiet atmosphere with very few large groups of visitors.

12:30 p.m. – Free time for photos

You will have enough time to explore the best viewpoints and photograph Singrenacocha Lagoon from different angles.

The reflection of the snow-capped mountains on the water makes this one of the most photogenic natural landscapes in the Cusco region.

1:20 p.m. – Box Lunch

After the hike, you will enjoy a Box Lunch surrounded by the impressive Andean landscape.

This break gives you time to recover your energy while continuing to admire one of the most spectacular natural settings in southern Peru.

2:00 p.m. – Return journey to Cusco

We will begin the return trip to Cusco in tourist transportation, following the same scenic route used on the way to the lagoon.

It is a good time to rest while once again passing through the impressive high-Andean landscapes.

5:00 p.m. – Arrival in Cusco

We will finish the tour by dropping you off at your hotel in Cusco.

You will end this experience having discovered one of the most impressive hidden lagoons in the Vilcanota mountain range, ideal for travelers looking for nature, tranquility, and less crowded landscapes.

Do I need trekking shoes for Singrenacocha Lagoon?

Yes, they are highly recommended. Although the hike is not technical, the terrain can include uneven and wet sections depending on the season.

Can I swim in Singrenacocha Lagoon?

No. The lagoon is located in a high-mountain natural environment and is not designated for aquatic activities.

The best option is to enjoy the scenery, respect the ecosystem, and stay on authorized trails to help preserve this destination.

Yes. A Cusco 6 Days itinerary allows you to combine Machu Picchu, the Sacred Valley, and several Andean landscapes without packing all the visits into overly demanding consecutive days. Six days also give you more time to gradually adapt to Cusco’s altitude and schedule higher-altitude excursions after visiting destinations at more moderate elevations.

💡 Get In Peru Expert Tip: Avoid scheduling the highest-altitude excursions within the first 24 hours. In our operations, we prioritize cultural visits or less physically demanding activities first and leave high-altitude hikes for after travelers have spent several nights in the Andes.

📍 Did you know? The city of Cusco sits at approximately 3,400 meters above sea level, while several mountain attractions in the region rise well above 4,000 meters.

A Cusco 6 Days itinerary can include Machu Picchu, the Sacred Valley, Singrenacocha Lagoon, Pallay Punchu Rainbow Mountain, and other cultural and natural attractions in the region. The exact schedule depends on Machu Picchu train times, driving distances, and the difficulty level of each excursion, so the order of the visits is just as important as the number of destinations included.

💡 Get In Peru Expert Tip: We do not recommend organizing the itinerary based only on how close the attractions are to one another. Some excursions need to begin before sunrise, while Machu Picchu depends on specific train schedules and designated entry times.

📍 Did you know? The Cusco region ranges from temperate valleys such as the Sacred Valley to high-Andean areas with lagoons and mountains located more than 4,000 meters above sea level.

For most travelers, spending the first 24 to 48 hours doing lower-effort activities helps the body adapt before taking on high-altitude excursions during a Cusco 6 Days itinerary. Acclimatization varies from person to person, so it is best to keep a moderate pace, stay well hydrated, and avoid intense physical effort immediately after arrival.

💡 Get In Peru Expert Tip: If you fly directly from Lima, do not schedule a mountain excursion above 4,000 meters for the following morning. Even travelers in good physical condition can feel the effects of altitude if they climb too soon.

📍 Did you know? Being physically fit does not necessarily prevent altitude sickness, because acclimatization depends mainly on how each person’s body responds to lower oxygen availability.

The dry season, approximately from May to September, usually offers favorable conditions for a Cusco 6 Days itinerary, especially if it includes hikes, lagoons, or mountain destinations. However, Cusco can be visited year-round. From November to March, the likelihood of rain increases, while April and October are generally transitional months with more variable conditions.

💡 Get In Peru Expert Tip: Even during the dry season, carry a lightweight waterproof layer. Weather in the mountains can change quickly, even when Cusco starts the day with completely clear skies.

📍 Did you know? In the Andes, there can be a significant difference between daytime and nighttime temperatures. During the dry months, cold mornings and sunny days are common.

Yes. A Cusco 6 Days itinerary provides enough time to visit Machu Picchu and explore the Sacred Valley, as long as train schedules, entrance times, and transportation are coordinated properly. An efficient option is to visit the Sacred Valley first and then continue toward the Machu Picchu area, avoiding unnecessary travel back to Cusco between both experiences.

💡 Get In Peru Expert Tip: When the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu are scheduled on consecutive days, we first review the train departure time before deciding how much time to spend at the final archaeological sites in the valley.

📍 Did you know? Ollantaytambo is one of the main departure points for trains to Machu Picchu Pueblo and is located within the Sacred Valley.

The difficulty of a Cusco 6 Days itinerary depends mainly on the mountain excursions included. Machu Picchu and the Sacred Valley involve moderate walking, stairs, and uneven terrain, while destinations such as Pallay Punchu or high-Andean lagoons may require hiking above 4,000 meters. For this reason, daily effort should be assessed by considering both the walking distance and the altitude.

💡 Get In Peru Expert Tip: Do not compare hikes based only on distance. Two kilometers above 4,500 meters can feel considerably more demanding than a much longer walk at lower altitude.

📍 Did you know? As elevation increases, atmospheric pressure decreases, which means less oxygen is available to the body and physical effort can feel more intense.

For a Cusco 6 Days itinerary, it is best to pack layered clothing, a waterproof or windproof jacket, comfortable footwear with good traction, sun protection, a hat, and warm clothing for the early hours of the day. Temperatures can vary considerably between Cusco, the Sacred Valley, Machu Picchu, and high-altitude areas, so several light layers are usually more practical than one heavy garment.

💡 Get In Peru Expert Tip: Always keep a waterproof layer and a thermal garment inside your daypack, not in the luggage left at the hotel. In high-Andean areas, the weather can change while you are far from the vehicle.

📍 Did you know? Ultraviolet radiation can be intense at high altitude even when temperatures are low or the sky is only partly cloudy.

It is recommended to book a Cusco 6 Days itinerary several months in advance, especially if the trip includes Machu Picchu and you already have fixed travel dates. Entry to the citadel is organized by specific time slots and visitor circuits, and train tickets, accommodation, transportation, and the remaining excursions must also be coordinated. Booking too late can reduce your circuit options or affect the ideal order of the itinerary.

💡 Get In Peru Expert Tip: Confirm Machu Picchu availability first before purchasing train tickets or domestic flights separately. Changing one of these services later can affect several days of the itinerary.

📍 Did you know? Machu Picchu uses different visitor circuits, so two travelers entering on the same day may follow different routes inside the archaeological site.

Yes. You can complete a Cusco 6 Days itinerary without previous trekking experience, as long as the selected excursions match your fitness level and you have enough time to acclimatize. Many cultural visits involve only moderate walking, while mountain routes may require a slower pace, frequent breaks, and several hours of road travel before the hike even begins.

💡 Get In Peru Expert Tip: Before booking a high-altitude excursion, check three details: maximum altitude, elevation gain, and the actual walking time. The total tour duration may include many hours of transportation and does not indicate the difficulty of the hike by itself.

📍 Did you know? On high-Andean excursions, starting at a slow and steady pace is usually more effective than walking quickly at first and taking long breaks later.

It is usually better to schedule the highest-altitude excursions toward the end of a Cusco 6 Days itinerary, after spending several days acclimatizing in Cusco and the Sacred Valley. This arrangement allows you to reach routes such as Pallay Punchu or high-Andean lagoons with more gradual adaptation and reduces the need for intense physical effort immediately after arrival.

💡 Get In Peru Expert Tip: When we organize several high-altitude destinations, we also avoid scheduling two demanding hikes on consecutive days. A lower-effort day in between can make a significant difference in how the traveler handles the next excursion.

📍 Did you know? Some mountain routes around Cusco begin before sunrise because transfers from the city can take several hours and the goal is to hike during the best conditions of the day.
