The Mystery Route is a one-day tour from Cusco that combines art, nature, and spaces inspired by the Andean worldview and fantasy worlds. The route includes the Abode of the Gods, the Valley of the Goblins, the Huasao Wetland, and the Forest of the Ents.

💡 Get In Peru Expert Tip: Do not confuse this route with a traditional archaeological circuit. Most of its attractions are contemporary, so we recommend doing it as a complement to the historical visits in Cusco.

🏔️ Did you know? The Abode of the Gods, also known as Apukunaq Tianan, stands out for its enormous sculptures inspired by characters and elements of Andean culture.

The Mystery Route includes four main attractions: the Abode of the Gods, the Valley of the Goblins, the Huasao Wetland, and the Forest of the Ents. Each stop offers a different experience, from large sculptures carved into rock to green areas with fantasy characters.

💡 Get In Peru Expert Tip: Bring your cell phone or camera with enough battery and available storage space. It is a route with numerous photo stops, and you will usually end up taking more photos than you expected.

🏔️ Did you know? The Huasao Wetland is located south of the city of Cusco, so the route allows you to discover attractions located outside the traditional tourist circuit of the historic center.

The Mystery Route lasts approximately 8 hours, starting around 9:50 AM and ending around 6:00 PM. During the day, different stops are made to visit the included attractions, and there is time to eat before continuing the tour.

💡 Get In Peru Expert Tip: Avoid scheduling a flight, train, or activity with a tight schedule immediately after the tour. Traffic when returning to Cusco may slightly change the expected arrival time.

🏔️ Did you know? The tour ends at Plaza Regocijo, located just one block from the Plaza de Armas, making it easy to access restaurants and hotels in the historic center.

The Mystery Route starts at approximately 9:50 AM at Plaza Regocijo, in the historic center of Cusco, and ends around 6:00 PM in the same area. From there, transportation is provided to the different attractions along the route.

💡 Get In Peru Expert Tip: Arrive at the meeting point 10 to 15 minutes early. The streets of the historic center may have traffic and some vehicle restrictions, especially during festivities and local events.

🏔️ Did you know? Plaza Regocijo is located very close to Cusco’s Plaza de Armas, so it is easy to walk there from numerous accommodations in the center.

Yes. The Abode of the Gods is one of the main stops on the Mystery Route and stands out for its monumental sculptures inspired by deities, characters, and symbols related to Andean culture. Some of these figures reach several meters in height and blend into the mountainous landscape.

💡 Get In Peru Expert Tip: During this visit, you will need to walk through areas with uneven terrain. Wear shoes with good soles instead of completely smooth footwear, especially during the rainy months.

🏔️ Did you know? This attraction is also known as Apukunaq Tianan, an expression associated with the idea of an abode or space dedicated to Andean deities.

In the Valley of the Goblins on the Mystery Route, you will find goblin sculptures, Andean-inspired figures, and different artistic installations, including the well-known Huanac Bell. It is one of the stops most focused on exploring, observing details, and taking photographs.

💡 Get In Peru Expert Tip: Do not stay only around the sculptures located near the entrance. Walk along the designated trails to find less visible figures and make better use of the time assigned to this stop.

🏔️ Did you know? The Valley of the Goblins is a relatively recent attraction in Cusco and was inaugurated in 2021, unlike the centuries-old archaeological sites that characterize other circuits in the region.

During the Mystery Route, you will visit the Huasao Wetland, an ecological area with lagoons, vegetation, and sculptures of mythological and fantasy characters. This stop offers a different atmosphere from the first attractions and allows you to enjoy a peaceful tour surrounded by nature.

💡 Get In Peru Expert Tip: Between November and March, bring a lightweight waterproof jacket even if the day starts clear. Around Cusco, rain can appear quickly during the afternoon.

🏔️ Did you know? Huasao is located in the district of Oropesa, southeast of Cusco, an area also known locally for its gastronomic tradition and natural spaces.

The Forest of the Ents is one of the most unique stops on the Mystery Route, where you will find wooden sculptures, trees with faces, and figures inspired by fantasy characters such as Gandalf and Gollum. The attraction combines art with a natural environment and a focus related to environmental care.

💡 Get In Peru Expert Tip: Spend some time walking among the vegetation and not only visiting the main sculptures. Some figures are integrated among trees and roots and can go unnoticed during a quick visit.

🏔️ Did you know? Ents are fantasy creatures with the appearance of trees popularized by the works of J. R. R. Tolkien.

For the Mystery Route, it is recommended to wear comfortable layered clothing, shoes with good grip, sun protection, and a light jacket. Cusco’s weather can change throughout the day, and the route combines travel by vehicle with outdoor walks.

💡 Get In Peru Expert Tip: Do not rely solely on Cusco’s temperature when leaving your hotel. Always bring an extra layer and rain protection between November and March; several stops are exposed and have few places to take shelter.

🏔️ Did you know? Cusco is located more than 3,000 meters above sea level, where solar radiation can be intense even when the temperature feels cool.

Yes, the Mystery Route can be a good option for families with children who enjoy sculptures, nature, and fantasy settings, as it combines several different visits during the same day. However, children should feel comfortable taking short walks and spending several hours away from the hotel.

💡 Get In Peru Expert Tip: For families with young children, bring water and an additional snack. Travel times between stops depend on traffic and do not always coincide exactly with children’s usual meal times.

🏔️ Did you know? The combination of goblins, monumental sculptures, fantasy characters, and trees with faces gives this circuit a very different visual approach from traditional archaeological tours in Cusco.
